Mr. Huỳnh Vũ Kha (42) lives in Vinh Loc commune, Hong Dan district, Bac Lieu province, Vietnam with his wife and their 2 sons (14 and 6). The eldest son is in grade 8 and the younger son goes to pre-school. They live with Mr. Huỳnh Vũ Kha’s mother, who lives in the back of the house. The house is built on elevated clay foundation with large cracked all over it.
Their current home is formed with cement rendered brick wall and corroded corrugated metal sheets. The ceiling has many holes, which leaks during rain and makes the clay floor slippery and unsafe.
Mr. Huỳnh Vũ Kha is a casual laborer and works when there is work opportunity for him. Hence, their income fluctuates. Daily wage of a casual laborer is between 120,000đ – 200,000đ (AUD8.00 – 13.00 per day). His wife sells Milk-Tea in front of their property.
