The story of Mr. and Mrs. Tiết Sang and their family reflects a challenging situation where their livelihood, dependent on fishing at sea, was jeopardized due to the breakdown of their boat’s engine. This incident left them unable to earn a living from their primary occupation. To make ends meet, they resorted to working at a chicken farm with much lower income amount.
Their situation took a positive turn when they received news that the Rima Foundation would donate a replacement inboard engine and accessories for their small fishing boat. This donation was a significant relief, enabling them to resume their livelihood and once again support their family through fishing.
Their financial constraints were such that they couldn’t afford to send all of their 3 daughters to school. Two of their daughters had to stop attending school two years ago due to the associated costs of education, highlighting the difficult choices they had to make.
